In 1998, high school students in Tennessee started collecting paper clips in remembrance of the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

Karl Lyon was a Jew in Germany. Before WWII broke out, he was able to make it to America to live with his uncle in Kansas. He was drafted for war and fought against the Nazis in Germany. After the war, he went back to America and married Gloria Lyon, survivor of 7 death camps.

Other- Louis Zamperini is an olympic champion who was an American soldier during WWII. He lived a pretty 'exciting' childhood full of stealing and thievery. When he grew up, his brother Pete pushed him to run faster and faster. Eventually, he made it to the summer olympics in Berlin, Germany around the time that the Holocaust was beginning. He even spoke to Hitler, who complimented Louie on his speed. Later, Louie was drafted into war, where he was the bomber for a plane, the B24 Liberator, that was nicknamed Superman.
